Two weeks can be a lifetime. Just ask Ben James character, Wade Foster, in the September 11 thriller, Insider Dreams, which hit the bookshelves in 2006. The suspenseful plot chronicles the lives of four individuals over the two weeks leading up to the attack on the World Trade Center.

In his first full-length novel, Ben James chronicles the lives of 50 year old computer specialist, Wade Foster and his third wife, Amanda Rutherford on a road trip to attend a wedding in Seattle.

Still struggling with his past and a one year marriage to Amanda, the staunchly conservative Foster attempts to conceal many of the apparent terrorists activities going on around them while communicating at a distance with his dad, Andrew Foster, a former federal agent, then later Harold Phillips, an FBI agent in Seattle, who also happens to be the son of a man the elder Foster once worked.

Meanwhile, unknown to Foster, his oldest daughter, Megan is interviewing for a job in the World Trade Center but she is reluctant to tell her dad when she calls him for fear he will not approve of her actions. Ben James masterfully combines the Foster's involvement with the terrorists, Megan's move from Atlanta to New York City and Megan's relationship with Darin Blake, a man her age who also works in the south tower then brings the story to a dramatic conclusion two days after the Foster's return to their home in Oklahoma City, a calm, beautiful morning, Tuesday, September 11, 2001.

An emotional moment occurs when Foster sees the attack on a small black and white TV in his office then calls Megan on her cell phone. At the moment he calls, Megan, Darin Blake and two others have entered the north stairwell from the 86th floor of the south tower and have made their way to the landing between the 79th and 80th floors.
